Primarily due to the generosity of DTS alumni, several scholarships are offered annually to current and prospective Alpha Pi members. The University of Wisconsin Foundation holds and invests endowment funds for scholarships offered under the Robert R. Spitzer and David A. Wieckert Memorial Scholarship programs. Other scholarships are administered through the DTS Educational Foundation. Eligibility requirements and other information for these scholarships are shown below.

These scholarships are named in honor of Dr. Robert R. Spitzer, a member of DTS who became a prominent leader in agribusiness, higher education, and public service. The purpose of these scholarships is to financially support undergraduate men and women enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Children and grandchildren of DTS alumni (Brothers & Sisters) are also eligible regardless of their field of study at UW Madison. The students must be incoming Freshman, Sophomores or Juniors. The students must also be current or prospective members of Alpha Pi fraternity who intend to fully participate in the activities of Alpha Pi.
The Russel Ballweg Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually in memory of Russel Ballweg, a DTS brother who was tragically killed in a car accident in Sun Prairie in 1979. Russel was a Brother whom was looked up to in the House by his fellow brothers. He was a leader both in the house and on campus. He maintained a high GPA. In honor of Russel Ballweg, this award is given to an outstanding brother or sister of the Active Chapter who exhibits the same types of qualities that Russel had.
The characteristics and qualities looked for in a Ballweg Scholarship recipient are:
- Supportive of other Alpha Pi members
- Active in the house
- Leadership in Alpha Pi
- Leadership on campus
- Academics
Nominations for the award will be made by fellow Alpha Pi members. They will narrow the field of candidates to three. The three finalists will be interviewed by members of the DTS Educational Foundation Board. The DTS Educational Board will determine the final recipient.
The DTS Educational Foundation requests a written copy of the nomination (why the candidate was nominated ) for the final three candidates.
The three final candidates will need to submit a copy of their UW transcript; a list of their leadership roles in Alpha Pi, on campus and in the community; and a letter from the candidate indicating why they feel they are deserving of the award. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

He/she must be a real brother/sister, one who has touched everyone around them. He/she is a person who is involved in all fraternal activities and integrates with all types of people.
This Dallas Borneman Award is only posted every two years because this caliber of individual is so rare. He/she is a standout amongst standouts, a paragon within the house. One member will stand out about the rest; the cream will rise to the top. The alumni of the Delta Theta Sigma Educational Foundation believe the Active members best know who that individual is within their midst and trust in the their discretion to affirm who that person is.
